This tour starts at your hotel and takes you first to the “Umschlagplatz” in Warsaw, where the Nazis rounded up the Jews from the Ghetto. We will then roughly follow the train tracks that took approximately 300,000 Warsaw Jews to the second deadliest Nazi extermination camp as part of the Final Solution. We will stop at the train stations of both Małkinia and Treblinka, which were sites of mass murder. We will travel along a road built especially to service the camp, and once we arrive, we will visit the local museum where a miniature model of the camp is presented.
The camp was destroyed during WWII, but we will spend time at the impressive 17,000-stone monument at the site of the Treblinka II camp. Afterwards, we will see the foundations of the Treblinka I forced labor camp, which have been preserved. I will explain the multiple ways in which the histories of these two facilities connect.
The best time to start is at 9 am. There are many stops on this tour, and we will be at the location of the two camps for ca. 2 hours. On the way back, there is an option for a snack. The estimated return time back at your hotel is 3:30pm.
